5 things to do in London with kids

So you are headed to London England and have a few days.  Most European trips are routed through London Heathrow at some point so take a few days and explor the city with kids.

Here are few things my kids loved in our last trip to London.

1) The London Eye -  The large glass enclosed ferris wheel is climate controled and takes an hour to loop.   It has amazing views of London.  We used the fast track pass which allowed us to skip the lines and arrive any time on a given day.

Right next to the London Eye is a very unique wood play ground my kids played on after the ferris wheel. They could see it from the London Eye.

2) See a kid themed show in the West End like Disney's Alladin at the Prince Edward Theatre, Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, Disney's The Lion King at the Lyceum TheatreWicked at the Apollo Victoria Theater.   We saw an afternoon show of Matilda.  I was really impressed with the sets, songs and acting.

3) If you want to go to tea in London but are with kids and a fancy tea might not be there style then try the afternoon tea bus tour.   This was an antique double decker bus that picked up right by trafalgar square.  The bus tous is 1.5 hours long.  The treats were delicious and provided by the B-Bakery. Gluten free options were available as well.   They had various teas, coffees, hot chocolate, water and OJ served in covered travel mugs and there were slots on the table to hold the cups.   Plus there was a bus tour of the sites.

4) If your kids are Harry Potter fans like mine are you need to stop at Platfrom 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Train Station.   There is a luggage push cart half way through the wall you can take your picture with plus a Harry Potter Store where they sell books, wands, and other Harry Potter items.

5) Leister Square and the M&M, Lego and Nickelodeon Store.   My kids spent way too much time in the Lego store.   They have make your own figure and a really cool machine that can take your picture and make it into a lego kit.

Don't forget all the Free Museums like London Transport Museum or the Natural History Museum to see as well but these were some items my kids loved.

5 things to do in Dublin With Kids

Thinking of going to Dublin "the Green Island" with kids well here are some idea that you kids are sure to enjoy.

1) Saint Stephen's Green park is in the center of town and is great place to run around with a totally awesome playground, a lake and ducks. Plus it is right next to Grafton Street where you can shop and eat. There is even a Disney Store.

2) Viking Splash Tour - Think duck tour but with viking helmets this boat / bus tour was cool. You get a funny driver and yell at people walking by plus the driver describes some history and you see lots of famous dublin sites. The viking splash tour picks up on the north side of St Stephens Geen park.   All the kids on board even got a chance to steer the boat when the bus became a boat.

 3) Malahide Castle and Gardens - This is a real castle that has a large garden you can walk around in a catch butterflys in the butter fly house. There is also a large playground for kids to enjoy.

4) Take them to the sea. My kids loved playing in the sand. We even stopped in Howth on our way from Dublin airport and ate outside at a pub that had you guessed it a play ground across the street in front of a harbor.

There is a playgound right over his left sholder

5) Take them to a pub like O'Shea's for live music and tradition Irish food.

NOTE: If you take them to Jameson's Distillery Tour- because hey you are in Dublin and everything can't be for the kids only they get a ginger ale soda at the end and there is a playground around the corner at New Street and Benburb St.

Also if you go to the Guinness Storehouse tour kids get a soda at the end of their visit. Plus there is a shop that sells chips, candy and even soccer balls.
