Faerie (Fairy) Garden Workshop - Zilker Botanical Garden

The Faerie Landscaping Workshop is coming back to the Zilker Botanical Gardens on May 5, 2017.

We went last year and it was a lot of fun.   The cost is $5 for residents and $6 for nonresidents plus you pay $25 per garden kit.   The kit last year was a wooden box.   The give you dirt to fill it, several succulents, some wood tables and chairs, seeds for flowers.  Plus they have piles of other items you can use to make your garden unique.   We made mud huts and a mud bridge, tree swings rock paths and other fun fairy garden items.   You get to take your creation home and invite a fairy into your backyard

There are 2 times 9:00 to 11:00 am or Noon to 2:00 pm. They have gardeners and volunteers that help you and tell you how to keep your miniature landscape growing.  It took the whole 2 hours to make these fun creations.  My kids loved it.

You need to pay and register in advance.  This can be done by clicking here register.  Kits can be purchased through online registration to be picked up at the event or at Zilker Botanical Garden’s Chrysalis gift shop before the event.    We just had ares delivered to the workshop which worked out great.   The Kits will be available Zilker Botanical Garden's Chrysalis Gift Shop starting March 20th, 2017. (Register by May 1st).

My kids love playing with them but you need to make sure to water the succulents/ seeds and not keep them in direct Texas sun all summer.  Home Depot right now has a ton of great Fairy Garden items you can add once you get home.   We have since made this awesome fairy garden with lots of extras from home depot.
